Managing a large array of interactive and environmental sensors presents unique challenges, particularly when dealing with hardware malfunctions and unreliable data in unattended, long-running systems. In this session, Marta Habdas demonstrates why Elixir’s lightweight processes and isolation mechanisms make it an ideal choice for ensuring fault tolerance in physical computing. To move beyond simulations, Marta presents a physical prototype featuring Arduinos as controllers and Raspberry Pis running Nerves for event processing.
